Assassin bug: Family: Reduviidae

  • Habitat: Found near plants
  • Size: 5-37mm
  • Predators/Prey: They use their beak-like mouthparts to inject toxic saliva to digest their prey then suck out the nutrients. They like to eat ants and termites.
  • Population: life span 1yr
  • Interesting facts: Some confuse the assassin bug with the praying mantis. Some people raise them for insect control.
