How to Play
Introduction
In this game, you guide a young rattlesnake as it learns to survive in a harsh desert environment. You'll search for food and water, avoid predators, and use smart strategies to cope with extreme heat and limited resources.
As you progress, your snake will grow and eventually produce offspring of its own. Your choices impact not only your snake's survival, but also the health and success of its young.
While playing, you'll learn how snakes use behavior, physiology, genetics, and epigenetics to survive. You'll also explore the balance between hydration and energy - sometimes gaining one means losing the other. Every decision involves trade-offs, just like in real ecosystems.
Will your choices, skills, strategy, and a little luck be enough to survive the desert?
How to play
This is a story-based game. As you journey through three levels, you will face three kinds of challenges. These reward you with points and can change what happens next. The challenge types are:
- Questions/choices: Choose the best answer.
- Spinner wheels: Spin gently or hard to see your fate.
- Action sliders: Press the button at the right moment to succeed.
Your goal is to help your snake survive, to help your snake grow healthy young, and to get the highest score possible.
Starting a new game
When you begin a new game, you can enter a name that will appear on your score summary with your final score. This is the only place you can enter your name, and you cannot edit it later.
Saving your game
Your game will be saved automatically as you play. You can delete your previously saved games or start a new game on the game menu page.
Dashboard
When you start a new game or continue a saved game, you'll be taken to your game dashboard where you can find an overview of your progress and the level in the game. You can also review your score summary at the bottom of the dashboard.
There are three levels. At the beginning of a new game, levels 2 and 3 are locked. The next level will only be available once the previous level is complete. You can play each level as many times as you'd like to explore other outcomes and earn more points.
Your score
Your score will appear in the player summary, which is at the bottom of the page on your dashboard and at the end of each level. Your score is recorded each time you finish a level.
Level score
Your level score will be calculated from the positive events (spins that result in "yes" on the outcome wheel, and successful strikes on the action slider) that happen to your snake in a level. Below is the maximum score possible for each level.
- Level 1: 125 points
- Level 2: 100 points
- Level 3: 125 points
Bonus points
You can also earn bonus points by collecting badges when you complete each level under certain conditions. To collect all the badges, you'll need to complete all levels. Some badges in level 1 can only be earned by certain kinds of snakes. Below are the badges you can earn for each level.
Total game score
Total game score will be calculated from your highest score for each level and the bonus points you earn from badges. You can replay any level as many times as you like to try to earn more badges and improve your score. The maximum score possible for the game is 1,190. Try to get the highest score possible!
Buttons
Return to the main menu.
Enter or exit fullscreen mode.
Turn the sound off or back on.
Game sounds and music will be muted if you enter the game with your device in silent mode.
