We Can Build Your Broader Impacts

Ask An Expert has been a growing educational program since 1997. Today, we reach over 4 million learners across the globe. In the last decade, much of our funding to create engaging resources has come from working with faculty and helping them with grant-aligned broader impacts.

Collaborate with us! We design learning resources in many subjects, including: Biology, Earth & Space Science, Conservation, Nutrition, Health, Anthropology, and more.

What We Offer

Faculty are expected to deliver meaningful broader impacts. We make that easy and effective... and faculty can be as involved as they choose.

Faculty work with us because we offer

  • Proven outreach infrastructure
  • Research-based educational design
  • Scalable public engagement
  • Long-lasting impact beyond a grant

Collaborating With Our Team

Our team has decades of experience creating learning tools in STEM fields for a broad audience. All of our materials are designed to be engaging and usable anywhere, even in areas with low bandwidth. We collaborate with teachers to make sure we are creating materials that will be used, in the classroom and beyond.

Step 1: Send an inquiry email to [email protected] or to [email protected]

Feel free to include any existing ideas or plans you are looking for a team to create. Please let us know if you have existing funding or if you are interested in collaborating on a grant application.

Step 2: We will set up a time to discuss your project. In advance of meeting, we can also provide ballpark estimates for creating products including online games, VR tours, classroom lessons, stories, podcasts, or other educational tools. See examples above.

Step 3: If both parties are interested in pursuing the project, we will discuss learning objectives, potential products, and create a broader impacts plan with a price estimate. We can provide a Letter of Support for grant applications and can assist with Broader Impact sections on grant applications.

Step 4: When funding is secured, we will create a more detailed plan that both parties and their institutions sign.

Step 5: Throughout the creation process, we will hold regular meetings to show progress, ask for faculty/funder input on designs, and adjust the products as necessary within the scope of the agreement. If funding is included to work with K-12 teachers, we will collaborate with them on the design and throughout development. We will also work to classroom test the Beta products before the final publishable products are delivered.
